  • Be a graduate of an accredited Master or Doctorate of Science in Nursing – Anesthesia Program.
  • Possess current certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetist (CCNA).
  • Possess a current unrestricted license to practice as a licensed registered nurse and as an advance practice nurse in one of the fifty United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guan, or the U.S. Virgin Islands and must maintain said license in good standing.
  • Possess a minimum of one year of experience actively practicing as a full-time certified registered nurse anesthetist during the last year which enables him/her to perform the specific tasks listed for their specialty (see paragraph 6 of this performance work statement).  Time spent as an intern or resident does not count towards experience as an independent provider
  • Possess a current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certificate or Controlled Drug Substance number as appropriate.  The Contractor shall ensure that renewal actions are accomplished well before expiration of the provider’s license and/or DEA certification to ensure compliance with the contract. 
  • Have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).  Such certifications must be from the American Heart Association and state that it is specifically for “healthcare providers”.
  • Successfully meet credentials approval by the MTF Credentialing Committee and be granted privileges by the MTF commander
  • Must not be listed on the Health and Human Services (HHS) list of providers excluded from federally funded health care programs.  The list may be found at
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony and shall successfully complete a criminal history background check
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English well enough and enunciate with sufficient clarity to effectively communicate with patients and other health care providers.
  • Must possess sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity such that the HCP can relate to a variety of patients from diverse backgrounds and in various emotional states.
  • Must be able to operate a personal computer utilizing Microsoft applications, such as Internet Explorer, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc., with sufficient expertise so as to be able to communicate well and efficiently produce basic  reports, documents, and spreadsheets.  Must have experience viewing and documenting an Electronic Medical Record.
  • Must use the various clinical automation systems as required, such as, but not limited to Composite Health Care System (CHCS), Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), Ambulatory Data System (ADS), and Defense Medical Human Resource System – internet (DMHRSi).
  • Will be required to meet Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements in accordance with the state of licensure,
